Hi friends! Happy Wednesday It’s time for another bump update! It really feels like we are heading into the homestretch (I say that every week but wow, we are getting so close!)
At 34 weeks, Baby A is still the size of a honeydew melon (and the weight of a cantaloupe, according to BabyCenter). From Baby Center-at 34 weeks, your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she’s born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you’ve been nervous about preterm labor, you’ll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
Baby A still has some time to cook, but I’m glad to be at the stage where if she were born now she most likely wouldn’t have any health issues
How far along? 34 weeks, 6 days.
Total weight gain/loss: At 34 weeks I’m between a 24-25 pound gain. With just over five weeks left, I’m hoping I can stay under the “recommended” 35 pound gain, though really, you can’t control it.
Best moment this week: We got a lot of shopping done this week! Slowly checking items off of the list of things to do before the baby gets here (there is still so much to do- I am tackling cloth diapers next- they need to be washed a bunch of times before they can be used). Look at the cute little halloween outfit that we purchased for her-
Ack I LOVE the pumpkin on the butt. So cute! Shopping for a baby girl is SO fun
Oh! Another awesome moment was when I tried on my pre-pregnancy jeggings (don’t ask me why I wanted to depress myself in trying on my pre-pregnancy jeans). Anyway, the jeggings still fit!! My other pair of jeans that I wore all the time don’t- I can’t even begin to zipper them. Yay for the jeggings though! (I’m sure that they are all stretch has nothing to do with it )
At my doctor’s appointment this past week, I mentioned that Baby A’s movement had decreased a bit in the day before. She was still moving about a lot, just not as much as she had been in the day before. My doctor had me do an NST, where they hook up a monitor to your bump to monitor the baby’s heart rate and movements. I got to hear her heartbeat for a good twenty minutes! Everything was fine I’m glad that my doctor is so proactive! I also get to see Baby A again at my next doctor’s appointment- the doctor wants to do a follow up growth ultrasound from the one that she did at 32 weeks (when Baby A was measuring a week and a half ahead).
Movement: She’s had the hiccups a few times this week- poor little thing. Still lots of shifting and random limbs poking about.
Stretch Marks: Still none, heyooo.
Some weeks I try to wear the same pants and tank for the photo in order to do comparison shots- here is 16 weeks (non-maternity tank), 28 weeks and 34 weeks (psst- the pants are lululemon and they still fit, hooray! Granted, I don’t wear them in case they stretch but whatever, small victories!)
It looks like she’s dropped a little since 28 weeks, eh?
What I’m excited about/looking forward to: Baby A’s next ultrasound! Also, hitting the 35/35 mark- at 35 weeks, you have 5 weeks (and 35 days) left until your due date. I remember thinking that was SO far away- I can’t believe it is almost here!
Symptoms: Still swelling here and there. I’ve been keeping up with the walking (I walked 12.5 miles last week, yay) so that helps keep the swelling down. Also, everything sounds delicious. Yum.
Food cravings: Again, everything! I am really digging juice lately. I usually water it down with some water so it isn’t super sugary.
Sleep: Still lots of numbness when I lay down- lots of numb limbs! I’m still sleeping fairly well though so I can’t complain. I am waking up more to pee though.
Labor Signs: No, thank goodness!
Belly Button in or out? Poking out.
What I miss: I’m feeling good lately. I am excited for Baby A to be here, though I know I will miss feeling her movements.
Milestones: I feel like we are really making progress with getting ready for Baby A. Though there is still a lot to do (did you know you have to sterilize pacifiers/bottles/toys/everything!), we are getting there! :)
Have a good one, friends!
